“There was huge excitement all over Igbere Town in Bende Local Government of Abia State on 5th June 2017 as the Executive Governor of Abia State Dr Okezie Ikpeazu paid a courtesy visit to the people as part of his tour of the local government,” Chima Anyaso wrote.
“The event which was hosted at the Palatial country Home of Ugwu Igbere, Chief Chimaobi Desmond Anyaso was graced by the entire traditional Rulers of Igbere Clan and other prominent members of the town who turned out in mass to welcome the Governor and other political leaders of Abia State, led by former Senate President Chief Adolphus Wabara.
It was also a roll call of who is who within the political circle in Abia state and Abia North in particular as the Governor came in company of Senator Mao Ohuabunwa, Chief Cosmas Ndukwe, Bende Local Government Chairman, Chief Nmeregini, the Deputy Governor of Abia State, Rt. Sir Ude Okochukwu, Former Minister of State for Defence, Col. Augustine Akobundu (Rtd) amongst other top dignitaries.
“The traditional rulers took time to express thier appreciation to the Governor for the visit, noting that his visit was the first of a sitting governor of the state to the town in over 8 years.
“To demonstrate their appreciation, the Igbere traditional council presented the Governor with an award for “Valour & Resilience”, commemorating his triumph at the Supreme Court. They also took turns to appreciate their son, Chief Chimaobi Desmond Anyaso for the selfless initiative of bringing the people of Igbere closer to the Government once again. It was a carnival like no other and an evening of funfare, music and dance as the people of Igbere dined and wined with their Governor into the night.”
“Top of the agenda for the visit was about the inclusion of the youths in active participation in policy formulation, decision making and implementation processes in government.
